Our Fleet

Six owned trucks, two seasonal rentals. Maintained at our own warehouse. DOT-inspected and current.

We own six trucks and rent two more during peak season (May-September). All owned trucks are branded with our logo and contact info. Rentals are plain white and we don't pretend otherwise β€” when you book during summer peak, we'll tell you whether your job is going on an owned truck or a rental.

Owned fleet

  • 4 Γ— 26-foot Freightliner M2 box trucks β€” our standard residential and commercial workhorse. Holds about 8,000 lbs / 1,400 cubic feet β€” enough for a typical 3-bedroom home in one load.
  • 2 Γ— 16-foot Isuzu NPR box trucks β€” for studios, 1-bedroom apartments, single-piece moves, and tight-access jobs where a 26-footer can't fit.

Seasonal rentals

During May through September we add two 26-foot Penske rental trucks to handle peak demand. These are mechanically maintained by Penske, fueled by us, driven by our crew. Plain white exterior β€” no Desert Ridge branding because Penske doesn't allow wraps on rental units.

Maintenance

All owned trucks get DOT inspections annually plus our own preventive-maintenance schedule (oil/filter every 5,000 miles, brake and tire inspection monthly, full mechanical inspection quarterly). Maintenance happens at our 27th Avenue warehouse with our own mechanic β€” we don't farm out fleet work. Average truck age in our fleet is 4 years.

Equipment

Every truck is stocked with: 80-100 moving blankets, 4 piano dollies, 2 appliance dollies (one stair-climber rated to 1,500 lbs), 6 four-wheel utility dollies, hand trucks, shrink wrap rolls, packing tape, mattress bags, floor protection runners, door-jamb bumpers, tool kit for furniture disassembly. Heat-protocol kits (insulated blankets and reflective covers for sensitive crates) ride permanently on owned trucks May through September.

Meet the owner

"We started with one truck off 27th Ave. 14 years later we're still on 27th Ave."

I'm Marcus Delgado. I grew up in Mesa β€” third-generation Arizonan on my mom's side, my abuelo came up from Sonora in the 60s. Before Desert Ridge I spent eight years dispatching for a Mayflower agent in the West Valley.

In 2012 I bought a used Freightliner with my two brothers and rented bay 4 of a warehouse off North 27th Ave. We did three jobs that first week. We're still in the same building, just with five more trucks and fourteen people on payroll.

What's stayed the same: I personally pick up the phone after 6pm. We don't pay our dispatchers commission so they have no reason to oversell you a packing kit you don't need. And every crew has at least one bilingual mover β€” we serve Phoenix the way Phoenix actually is.

"Hired Desert Ridge for a 2-bedroom move from Tempe to North Scottsdale. Three guys, six hours, $890 flat. Foreman Hector walked me through the bill before they unloaded β€” no surprises. They wrapped my mom's piano without me asking."

"Used them twice. Second time was Mesa to Gilbert in July, 109Β°F outside. Crew kept the truck doors closed except for loading and ran a small fan inside β€” none of my records warped. Hablan espaΓ±ol lo cual ayudΓ³ con mis padres."

"Downsizing after 32 years in the same house. The guys were patient with my labeling system and didn't push to upsell packing materials I didn't need. Estimate was within $40 of the final bill."

"Long-distance to Denver. Loaded Friday in Chandler, delivered Tuesday morning in Lakewood. One small dent on a dresser, they Venmo'd me $75 same day to settle it. Honest about what insurance does and doesn't cover."

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book my Phoenix move?

For local moves we usually have spots within 7–10 days. May through August is our heaviest season β€” book 3 weeks out if you want a Saturday. For long-distance we need 2–3 weeks lead time to schedule the route.

Do you charge by the hour or flat rate?

Local moves under 50 miles are hourly β€” flat hourly with no fuel surcharge. Long-distance is a flat per-job quote based on weight and distance. We do an in-home or video walkthrough before quoting anything over a studio.

What happens if my stuff gets damaged?

Standard liability is 60Β’ per pound per item β€” that's federal minimum, included free. Most customers add Full Value Protection at $9 per $1,000 of declared value. We document any damage on the spot and settle within 7 days.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes β€” USDOT 1734502, MC-823491, Arizona Weights & Measures #WM-AZ-09827. We carry $1M goods-in-transit coverage and full Workers' Comp under Arizona ICA. Certificate of Insurance available on request.

Do you move pianos and pool tables?

Yes. We move uprights and baby grands regularly β€” 4-man crew, blankets, dollies, board for stairs. Slate pool tables we disassemble, transport, and re-level on-site (we charge a flat $450 in metro Phoenix).

Phoenix heat β€” does it damage my stuff in the truck?

Trucks hit 130Β°+ inside in summer. We load heat-sensitive items last (electronics, vinyl, candles, wine, medications) so they're in the truck the shortest time, and our long-distance loads run with insulated blankets over those crates. Full breakdown on our packing services page.
