Senior moves are a real specialty around Phoenix because of how much retirement-age moving happens here β Sun City, Sun Lakes, Anthem, Surprise. We do about 8-12 senior downsizing jobs a month between October and April, when snowbirds are settling in and adult children are flying in from out of state to help parents transition.
The biggest difference between a regular move and a senior move isn't the labor β it's the pace. We don't push. If you need three hours to look through your china cabinet and decide what's going, what's going to grandkids, and what's getting donated, that's the job. We bill flat hourly, so you're paying for the time we're there, not for boxes packed per minute.
We work with most of the major Phoenix retirement community move-in coordinators (Sun Health, Sun City Grand Community Association, Sun Lakes Country Club). They have specific timing requirements, parking restrictions, and elevator reservation policies β we know them already. If you're moving into a community we haven't worked at before, give us the name and we'll handle the coordination.
What's different about a senior move
- Patient pace β you decide what comes, what stays, what goes to family
- Help unpacking and setting up at destination (kitchen first, bedroom second)
- Coordinated donation pickup for items not coming with you (we work with St. Vincent de Paul Phoenix and Habitat for Humanity ReStore)
- Medication and prescription handling β these ride in cab with crew chief, not in truck
- Communication with adult children if they're managing the move from out of state
Estate moves
If you're managing a parent's estate after a passing, we can do the full clear-out: keepsakes shipped to family, sellable items sorted for an estate sale company, donations hauled, and the home left broom-clean for listing. Quoted per project after walkthrough.
